They are not just baby shoes. They are upcycled baby shoes. I love upcycling. I love turning something ordinary to something pretty. All of the fabrics that I use for my baby shoes projects are all upcycled – from a scrap fabric, a part of a dress, a piece of cloth I rummaged in flea markets for a penny, etc. Each pair of shoes has a story to tell. Each pair is made from the heart.
I learned how to sew three years ago. I bought myself a small sewing machine and taught myself how to sew. My favorite thing to sew are shoes…baby shoes. It all started when I attended a friend’s baby shower and I saw my friend’s daughter wearing a foot thong. It was super cute and I thought I’d like to try it. So I went online, look for patterns but what i found were those mary-jane shoe patters and fell in love with them….and the rest of the story? A shoebox full of baby shoes and matching headbands.
